General Mills is seeking a key leader responsible for shaping and bringing to life General Mills’ financial narrative for key audiences. The Director, Financial Communications, will:
- Develop compelling financial communications that accurately reflect General Mills’ business performance.
- Spotlight strategic priorities, business momentum and long-term value creation.
- Prepare compelling earnings materials, investor conference messaging and board-level communications, ensuring consistency, clarity and compliance across all financial disclosures.
This role will serve as the key Communications point of contact for the Chief Financial Officer, as well as the hub for all Financial Communications across the broader Communications team. This role reports into the Senior Director, External Communications.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Storytelling
- Evolve the company's financial narrative, ensuring it is clear, consistent and compelling for key audiences.
- Translate complex financial information and business strategies into understandable and impactful messages.
- Ensure alignment of financial messaging across internal and external communications channels.
- Work cross-functionally to design and bring to life a compelling visual identity for financial communications materials.
- Earnings & Investor Conferences
- Lead the creation of high-quality financial communications materials, including press releases, presentations, conference call scripts and fact sheets.
- Lead end-to-end communications process for quarterly earnings announcements, working closely with Investor Relations, Finance, Communications, Legal and senior leaders.
- Lead communications approach and execution for key investor conferences, including script and presentation development.
- Board Communications
- Lead Communications’ engagement on Board of Directors materials, ensuring consistency, clarity and alignment with the company’s broader financial communications.
- Compliance & Governance
- Build strong relationships with internal subject matter experts to gather information and insights.
- Collaborate with Investor Relations, Communications, Finance and Legal teams to ensure integrated and compliant financial messaging.
- Ensure all financial communications adhere to regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Maintain a deep understanding of financial markets, industry trends and investor expectations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field. MBA or CFA designation preferred.
- 10 years of progressive experience in financial communications, investor relations, corporate communications or financial journalism, preferably within a publicly traded company or a financial services firm.
- Experience in the CPG and/or food and beverage industry.
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful financial communication strategies.
- Experience managing communications for quarterly earnings cycles and major investor events.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with C-suite leaders and, ideally, members of the board of directors.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex financial information into clear, concise and impactful messages.
- Strong analytical skills and financial acumen.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- High degree of professionalism, integrity and discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).

Salary Range
The salary range for this position is $149500.00 - $224400.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
