Job Summary
The Debt Capital Markets (DCM) Associate supports the origination, structuring, underwriting, and execution of debt financing solutions for corporate, financial institution, commercial real estate, and sponsor clients. The Associate serves as a key member of transaction teams, leading financial analysis, preparing client deliverables, coordinating execution processes, and mentoring Analysts. This role works closely with senior bankers, coverage teams, underwriting, sales and trading, risk management, and legal partners to deliver financing solutions across the syndicated loan, leveraged finance, securitization, and bond markets.
Job Responsibilities:
Transaction Execution
Support and coordinate the execution of syndicated loans, term loan B facilities, bridge financings, public and private bond offerings, securitizations, private placements, and other debt financing transactions.
Lead preparation of offering memoranda, lender presentations, rating agency materials, investor presentations, and internal approval memoranda.
Manage transaction workstreams and coordinate across coverage bankers, underwriting teams, risk management, legal counsel, operations, and syndications partners.
Participate in due diligence processes, investor communications, lender meetings, and transaction marketing efforts.
Review financial, legal, and marketing materials to ensure accuracy and consistency throughout the execution process.
Support bookbuilding, pricing, allocation, and investor feedback processes in partnership with Sales & Trading and Syndications.
Serve as a day-to-day execution lead for Analysts and assist with training and development of junior team members.
Financial & Credit Analysis
Develop and maintain detailed financial models used to evaluate capital structures, debt capacity, liquidity profiles, leverage metrics, and financing alternatives.
Perform comprehensive credit analysis, including historical financial performance, cash flow forecasting, covenant analysis, sensitivity testing, and ratings considerations.
Evaluate acquisition financing, recapitalization, refinancing, liability management, and strategic financing opportunities.
Prepare underwriting and credit approval materials for internal committees and senior management.
Analyze comparable debt issuances, syndicated loan transactions, leveraged finance transactions, and peer capital structures.
Market & Investor Research
Monitor debt capital markets activity, including loan and bond issuance, pricing trends, yield movements, credit spreads, investor demand, and macroeconomic developments.
Develop market commentary and provide actionable insights regarding financing conditions, execution windows, and investor sentiment.
Analyze peer issuers, comparable transactions, sector-specific trends, and relative value opportunities.
Maintain market databases and support preparation of regular market updates for clients and internal stakeholders.
Client Support & Origination
Develop client-facing materials outlining financing alternatives, market conditions, capital structure considerations, and strategic recommendations.
Support senior bankers in identifying opportunities for refinancings, acquisition financings, liability management transactions, and other capital raising activities.
Participate in client meetings, internal strategy discussions, and transaction-related presentations.
Assist in business development initiatives and maintain awareness of emerging client opportunities and market developments.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with industry coverage teams to deliver coordinated client solutions and transaction strategies.
Work closely with Syndications, Sales & Trading, Credit Risk, Treasury, Derivatives, and FX teams throughout the transaction lifecycle.
Coordinate with external parties including investors, legal counsel, rating agencies, and other transaction participants.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to development of best practices across the Capital Markets platform.
Performs special projects and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job and completes required compliance training.
Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
2-4 years of experience in Debt Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Syndications, Structured Finance, Corporate Finance, or a related field.
Strong financial modeling, credit analysis, and analytical capabilities.
Knowledge of syndicated lending, fixed income markets, corporate finance, and capital markets products.
Experience supporting debt financing transactions and preparing client-facing presentations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts clearly and effectively.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively under tight deadlines.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Formal credit training experience.
Experience supporting syndicated loan, leveraged finance, securitization, acquisition finance, or bond transactions.
Familiarity with Bloomberg, Capital IQ, PitchBook, LoanConnector, Refinitiv, or similar market intelligence platforms.
Understanding of rating agency methodologies and credit rating frameworks.
Series 79, SIE, or willingness to obtain applicable licenses within established timeframes.
MBA, CFA designation, or progress toward professional certification.
Strong financial modeling and credit underwriting skills.
Commercial awareness and understanding of client financing objectives.
Ability to independently manage transaction workstreams and execution timelines.
Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.
Strong project management and organizational skills.
Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively across multiple stakeholder groups and business lines.

Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and financial databases.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Occasional travel as required.
