The Investor Relations Specialist supports the Investor Relations function through a combination of operational execution, data support, and investor engagement activities. This role assists in compiling and summarizing financial, market, and investor information, contributes to the preparation of investor communications, and supports the coordination of investor interactions. The position requires attention to detail, professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information in a regulated public company environment.
Primary Accountabilities
- Investor Relations Operations (20%) - Provides centralized oversight and organization of Investor Relations activities, ensuring deadlines are clearly defined, actively tracked, and consistently met. Maintains visibility into key milestones and monitors progress against deliverables, identifying potential risks to timelines and supporting timely resolution of open items. Enables effective day-to-day execution of IR activities with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness, while tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and supporting continuous improvement of IR processes and workflows.
- Investor Communication & Engagement (10%) - Facilitates consistent and professional communication with the investment community and internal stakeholders. Manages inbound investor inquiries, providing approved information and ensuring appropriate escalation of sensitive or complex matters.
- Investor Evaluation & Targeting (10%) - Supports investor targeting efforts through analysis of shareholder composition, ownership trends, and investor activity. Prepares investor profiles and engagement summaries to inform outreach priorities and enhance the effectiveness of engagement strategies.
- Financial & Market Analysis Support (10-15%) - Compiles, organizes, and summarizes financial and market data to support the development of insights used in investor communications. Assists in monitoring peer performance, industry trends, and valuation indicators. Prepares concise summaries of analyst commentary and market developments for internal stakeholders.
- IR Systems, Data, and Analytics (10-15%) - Serves as the primary subject matter expert for Investor Relations platforms, including FactSet, Capital Access, AlphaSense, Consensus Metrix, and Workiva, maintaining deep knowledge of system capabilities to support effective utilization across the IR team. Troubleshoots system issues, optimizes workflows, and ensures data integrity while training and supporting team members to drive adoption of tools and best practices. Maintains accurate records of investor interactions and produces reporting on ownership trends, investor activity, and analyst estimates. Leverages data, automation, and generative AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot and similar technologies) to enhance efficiency in data compilation, summarization, and reporting, applying appropriate judgment to validate outputs and ensure accuracy, consistency, and proper handling of sensitive or confidential information.
- Investor Materials & Messaging Support (10-15%) - Oversees the preparation and ongoing maintenance of Investor Relations materials, including agendas, briefing documents, reference materials, presentations, and travel itineraries, ensuring content is accurate, current, and updated as inputs evolve. Maintains version control and readiness of deliverables to support effective management engagement, and coordinates timely distribution of materials in appropriate formats aligned with leadership preferences. Prepares briefing materials, investor summaries, and meeting notes for senior leadership, and develops charts, graphs, and supporting visuals for executive and Board of Director materials. Reviews and proofreads investor communications and materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with corporate messaging.
- Meeting & Event Coordination (10%) - Coordinates logistics for investor-related meetings and events, including earnings calls, conferences, and roadshows. Ensures seamless execution and a high level of professionalism in all interactions involving senior leadership and external stakeholders.
- Administrative & Financial Support (<5%) - Supports financial and administrative processes for the Investor Relations function, including vendor coordination, purchase orders, invoice processing, and budget tracking.
- Daily Market & Investor Insights Reporting (<5%) - Prepares and distributes recurring market updates, summarizing Hormel stock performance, peer activity, broader market trends, and relevant analyst commentary. Highlights key developments and emerging themes for internal awareness.
Executive Support (5-10%) - Provides administrative coordination in support of the Investor Relations function, including interaction with senior executives (CEO, CFO, President) and backup support for executive administration as needed.
Required Qualifications
2–5 years of experience in investor relations, finance, treasury, accounting, or related field
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, including data organization and reporting
Working knowledge of financial statements and capital markets concepts
Demonstrated ability to organize, synthesize, and communicate information clearly
High level of professionalism, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information

Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field
- Experience supporting financial analysis, earnings processes, or communications
- Familiarity with financial and IR platforms
- Exposure to public company reporting and capital markets environments
- Familiarity with or interest in leveraging generative AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to improve efficiency and quality of work
At Hormel Foods, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base hiring pay range for this role is $23.75- $33.25, and your actual base pay within that range will depend upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, skill set, level of experience, and geographic market location.
