Job Summary:
The Communications and Engagement Specialist develops and executes communications that engage employees, strengthen company culture, and support the organization's mission and values. This position serves as the company's internal storyteller while managing digital communication platforms, employee engagement initiatives, corporate branding, and company-wide events. The Specialist partners with leaders across the organization to deliver clear, consistent, and engaging communications that enhance the employee experience and support business objectives.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Communications & Content Development
- Develop, write, edit, and distribute employee communications including newsletters, announcements, executive communications, company updates, and other internal communications.
- Serve as the company's internal storyteller by identifying and creating engaging employee /company stories that highlight achievements, culture, mission, and values.
- Create content for the company intranet, website, social media, and other digital communication platforms, including basic graphics and video content as needed.
- Partner with business leaders to develop and deliver communications supporting company initiatives, organizational changes, and employee programs.
- Ensure communications are timely, accurate, consistent, and aligned with corporate branding standards.
- Partner and support Public Affairs Manager with Development outreach as needed.
Website & Intranet Management
- Maintain, edit, configure, and update the company's internal intranet and external website using the organization's content management system.
- Partner with Information Technology to ensure website functionality, content accuracy, navigation, and user experience.
- Manage website content, page layouts, documents, forms, links, and digital resources to ensure information remains current, accessible, and user-friendly.
- Maintain, edit, update social media accounts.
Employee Engagement & Event Management
- Lead and manage the planning, coordination, and execution of corporate events and employee engagement initiatives, including all-company meetings, leadership meetings, team-building activities, employee appreciation events, community service programs, volunteer opportunities, and other events that strengthen organizational culture and support the company's mission and values.
- Manage the employee swag store, including branded merchandise selection, ordering, inventory, and fulfillment.
- Coordinate employee recognition programs, including service anniversary gifts, appreciation initiatives, and other employee milestone programs.
- Support community engagement initiatives by partnering with office locations and organizational leaders on volunteer and outreach activities.
Branding & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Maintain and promote corporate brand standards across communications, digital platforms, and employee giveaways.
- Build collaborative relationships across departments to identify communication opportunities and support organizational initiatives.
- Provide communications and branding support to departments across the organization as needed.
Required Education/Skills/Knowledge:
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate communications or internal communications
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading abilities.
- Experience developing engaging communications across multiple channels, including intranet, websites, newsletters, and social media.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining, editing, configuring, and updating website and intranet content using content management systems (CMS) or SharePoint.
- Proven experience planning, coordinating, and executing large-scale corporate events and employee engagement initiatives.
- Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint or similar CMS platforms; experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar design tools preferred.
- Self-motivated, creative, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
- In-office role with opportunity for flexible schedule
- Travel to company locations and events is required – 25%
- Must be able to lift or move materials weighing up to 25 pounds for company events and employee engagement activities.
- Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to sit or stand at a desk while using a computer workstation.
