Title: Investor Relations
Reports to: CEO
Job Description
Why is this job for you?
Pattern Computer is seeking an experienced, strategic, and high-energy Investor Relations Lead to orchestrate our global fundraising initiatives, manage stakeholder communications, and guide the company through its next phase of exponential growth.
Pattern specializes in discovering novel patterns within big data to solve complex, historically intractable problems. We deliver immediate, specialized depth in life sciences—therapeutics, diagnostics, and clinical support—powered by an innovative mathematical foundation whose broad applicability scales across advanced materials, electronics, finance, logistics, and virtually all data-intensive markets.
Having successfully raised over $43M to date entirely outside traditional venture capital, we possess a unique, diverse base of accredited investors ranging from Wall Street veterans to first-time pre-IPO participants. As we open our Series C round to institutional VC investment and partner with top-tier Investment Banks, we require an IR executive with a sophisticated financial pedigree to cultivate these relationships and prepare the organization for public markets.
Key Responsibilities
· Fundraising Leadership: Serve as the primary architect and executor of the company's capital raises, driving the open Series C round and positioning the firm for future institutional tranches.
· Liquidity Strategy Execution: Support or lead strategic liquidity events, including potential corporate spinouts, joint ventures, M&A and the transition toward a potential Initial Public Offering (IPO).
· Investor Narrative & Messaging: Translate complex, cutting-edge machine learning, bioinformatics, and data science concepts into compelling, accessible, and compliant narratives tailored to a broad spectrum of investors.
· Capital Table & Data Room Management: Maintain and oversee the company’s capitalization table and investor data rooms utilizing the Carta platform.
· Financial Modeling & Market Intelligence: Collaborate with executive leadership to maintain the company's financial proforma while providing proactive guidance on investor sentiment and macroeconomic industry trends.
· Regulatory Compliance & Risk Mitigation: Review pending press releases and disclosures for investor and SEC sensitivities, carefully balancing competitive intellectual property protection with robust market transparency.
· Stakeholder Relations & Operations: Ensure rapid, accurate, and compliant responses to shareholder inquiries; draft advance Q&A materials for key milestones; and oversee investor documentation (consents, transfers, subscriptions).
· Corporate Outreach: Plan and execute strategic investor events, roadshows, dinners, and corporate presentations.
Preferred Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a highly relevant quantitative/scientific field.
· Professional Experience: A proven, verifiable track record of corporate success, meeting one of the following criteria:
• Public/Startup Track: At least 5 years of dedicated Investor Relations experience, including both startup and publicly traded companies, and 3 years leading IR for at least two venture-backed companies.
• Capital Markets Track: At least 5 years of institutional Wall Street or capital markets experience (IR or IR-adjacent) with established trust and deep relationships among institutional investors.
· Communication Mastery: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with an intuitive ability to listen actively, gauge investor comprehension, and dynamically adapt framing or metaphors to match the audience’s financial and technical sophistication.
· Strategic Influence: Proven capability to contribute to executive leadership, navigate complex corporate environments, and manage rigorous financial deadlines.
· Global Operational Acumen: Extensive prior experience in fast-paced, global corporate environments, with proficiency in financial modeling and analytical tools (Excel, etc.).
Primary Personal Characteristics
· Fundraising-Centric & Visionary: Possesses the financial gravity and confidence required to champion a bold corporate vision, mobilizing the investment community around the future of Pattern Computer.
· Highly Collaborative & Low-Ego: Thrives in a world-class, multidisciplinary research and technology environment, prioritizing collective organizational results over individual credit.
· Detail-Oriented & Execution-Driven: Balanced capability to navigate macroeconomic strategy while simultaneously diving into the minutiae of cap table management and regulatory filings.
· Inquisitive & Principled: Driven by a passion for continuous learning across emerging technologies, combined with uncompromised personal and professional ethics.
Location and Travel
· Workplace: Remote flexible. While our primary office is located in Redmond, Washington, we welcome remote candidates. Remote personnel will be expected to travel to corporate headquarters up to three times per year.
· Travel: Variable based on fundraising cycles and roadshow demands, historically averaging under 25%.
